Jack Chow and the Gold Beanstalk: China’s Gen Z Buy Jars of Gold Beans

“Look mother, a stalk!”

~ Jack, Jack and the Bean Stalk

Written by Bryan Lutz, Editor at Dollarcollapse.com:

When the cow stops giving milk, you got to sell it.

That’s what began the ol’ tale of Jack and the Beanstalk.

So the old warning signals once again…

Get out of the dollar!

At the request of his mother, Jack brought the family cow, their one source of income, to the market to sell it.

Then a mysterious man offers him magic beans in exchange for the cow.

As it turns out, Jack takes the deal.

When he returns home his mother is furious, but Jack decides to plant the beans anyway.

The next morning a massive bean stalk shot up out of the ground and Jack climbs it all the way to the top.

And finds gold coins, a hen that lays golden eggs, and a harp.

This is the quickest and easiest way to store your wealth…

Not by buying magic beans, but by exchanging the thing that will soon lose value(an old milkless heffer) for gold. Then whenever you produce your wages, buy a bit of gold.

When you do that, it will seem as if a magic harp pleasantly plays in the background of your days…

as you work…

as you eat…

as you fall asleep…

Having some gold, can really have that effect.

Our youngest and most pessimistic generation already knows this. At least, in the East…

For example, Chinese youngsters of Generation Z, are buying jars of one gram, gold beans to store their wealth.

Bloomberg reports:

Gold Beans All the Rage With China’s Gen Z as Deflation Bites

“With China’s deflation at its worst in 15 years, a volatile stock market and bank interest rates too low for her liking, 18-year-old Tina Hong is placing her financial security in gold beans.

Weighing as little as one gram, the beans — and other forms of gold jewelry — are increasingly viewed as the safest investment bet for young Chinese in an era of economic uncertainty. It’s part of a larger consumer trend for all things gold — from bullion to beans and bracelets — that has gripped the mainland.

“It’s basically impossible to lose money from buying gold,” reasoned Hong, a college freshman studying computer science in Fujian province who in January began buying gold beans because of their relatively low cost of about 600 yuan ($83) per gram. She has more than two grams of the beans and will continue buying them as long as costs are lower than international gold prices, she said.

Branded as an investment entry point for young consumers, the beans, which come in glass jars, are the latest hot-selling items in Chinese jewelry stores.”

If China’s youth are suffering from deflationary stress, will this be the next thing for young Americans too?

Well, American’s have the advantage of owning the world’s reserve currency. So, as long as the dollar continues to hold the vote on global value…

And as long as inflation doesn’t go too wild…

Young American’s might not feel the urge the same way.

The Chinese are different.

They’ve been well aware the government meddles with their currency. So the younger generations pay attention. They buy and sell in cash. Save cash. And are extremely hard workers.

To no surprise, now they’re buying gold beans.

Costco and WalMart are selling gold coins, in the United States…

Will jewellery stores across the country be selling gold beans next?
