Eleven years before Canada’s Justin Trudeau entered politics, the book ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’ was released.
It is a heart-warming memoir…
The author Mitch Albom reconnects with his dying college professor.
About the time Trudeau was elected to the first riding of Papineau in Montreal, Quebec, I remember reading it to see why it was so popular.
At the time, there was no connection.
I was just reading the book.
So there’s no reason to be cynical about it…
In the book, Albom went through his memories, and listened to life lessons from Morrie. It was warm, memorable, and touching.
However, they were all memories of things that were.
As Trudeau wakes up this morning, he also has memories of things that were.
Sitting at his kitchen table, sipping his coffee, avoiding the newspaper headlines, that’s all he has to think about – memoirs of things that were.
Even things he completely made up!
The dominoes started to fall in early December.
That’s when I wrote to you about the left’s most hopeful dictator’s sad goodbye.
In Europe, socialist heroes faced non-confidence votes.
In Germany…
In France…
And here in Canada, the world’s most hopeful and disillusioned globalist chose to ignore the real dissatisfaction of Canadians. Including, their standard of living.
Like many of the West’s socialist heroes, Trudeau is leaving a legacy of financial despair.
Very similar to the rest of the West…
Near open borders…
Increased crime…
Overwhelming government spending deficits…
And huge national debts…
More so, Trudeau’s resignation marks another turning point in the social-economic cycle called the Fourth Turning.
Along with Trudeau’s personal memoir session this Tuesday morning, the West’s old institutions are beginning to fade.
The political landscape is changing.
As we move through this chaotic, anxious, Fourth Turning, new institutions are coming…
Along with new understandings…
For a new First Turning, with stronger institutions.
