3 Sunday Morning Thoughts – January 11 Edition

Written by Bryan Lutz, Editor at Dollarcollapse.com:

So, every Sunday morning I sit down to write a few thoughts.

Sometimes these thoughts end up being about life, other times they are on gold, geopolitical issues affecting the markets, or the economy.

Here are three thoughts for this morning:

1. The silver slop you’re seeing with this “Asian Guy” on Youtube is only a small part of the AI generated content you see out there.

You have to be aware of the amount of AI “slop” out there and how easy it is to source, produce, and upload while living in a high-end loft in Bali for $700/month.

There is a reason why Merriam Webster’s 2025 Word of the Year was declared “slop.”

The amount of AI slop creeping its way into every part of society is hardly noticeable. Until it is. Especially, if you’re just going about your day like an average person. It’s hardly noticeable.

Recently, I became more aware of the AI slop entering the precious metals world.

Here’s the story:

This week I wrote a piece entitled, How Long Before Physical Silver Runs Out? (In 4 Charts). So I decided to highlight the consistent decline of physical silver in exchange vaults because all we really have to run on is the information we receive. Reliable or not…

That’s what we have.

And the truth is that silver is running out.

We don’t know when, but it seems like soon. Registered silver in London, the COMEX, and Shanghai vaults are all draining.

This where AI enters the chat.

I wasn’t exactly certain how much influence the Asian Guy had on the contrarian, precious metals community, and subscribers at dollarcollapse. Then I received a comment on my post and the light bulb lit up.

The conspiracy rabbit holes run deeper than I expected…

(Just click on the image above (or here, or below) and let me know your thoughts on this one – how far the rabbit hole goes… I get good recommendations from you and other readers all the time.)

Since I’m now in my 40s, I don’t tend to grab hold of trends as quickly as those in their 20s, but I have been following the AI trend with an open hand.

In the case of silver reporting on YouTube, since I was unaware of just how much influence this “Asian Guy” really had, I dismissed him as just another piece of AI slop.

Someone else beat me to the chase.

About two weeks ago, John Rubino was on the ball reporting on the AI slop that is, “The Asian Guy”, he wrote, “Is Asian Guy a False Flag?

That’s a good question…

Because the AI production is making astoundingly wild, extremely difficult to verify claims that have the already near paranoid precious metals community defaulting on two choices (according to Don Durrett, which Rubino links in his blog):

  1. It’s a money making scheme.
  2. It’s a government scheme to front run the shortage.

If I can add anything to this conversation, let me show you how PERVASIVE and EASY AI content generation really is…

So, I spent about 10 min and found about 13 channels so far that feature “Asian Guy.”

These ones are all about silver. Some were started last week, others last month. and one more two months ago.

This first one “errorsfortunes” doesn’t start out as a silver channel. The first few videos are about macroeconomics, the collapse of the dollar, etc…

https://www.youtube.com/@BullionWatch

These channels are not all about silver, but still feature Asian Guy –v

Then there are other channels that attempt to build trust by being transparent about AI slop, claim their videos are “carefully curated and planned,” then go on to claim the channel was launched before “the Asian Guy” spam.

Now, here’s the truth.

The truth is that when OpenAI launched ChatGPT in 2022 it only took several months before savvy online marketers and under-the-radar tech guys were taking advantage of the tools available to them.

How do I know this?

Because only one year later, “make money” videos like the one below were popping up in the business opportunity marketing niche.

This one was posted in July 2023. That means people had already been making money using AI and other tools on Youtube for at least six months. In the video below, he claims he made over $5k in five days.

That kind of money certainly isn’t unreasonable.

The video below is lofi music. People use it as background noise to help them focus and relax. There are hudreds if not, thousands of channels featuring different genres of lofi music. Pretty much all of it is made with AI and then automatically uploaded to YouTube. You can literally run an AI agent in your sleep for two weeks with the right programming and then wake up to monetize. It is an extremely popular “make money” scheme.

There are 19M views on the video below. Last time I checked the income on YouTube per view was roughly around $70,000 per million views. You do the math.

If you were wondering what kind of “make money” instructional videos exist for the silver and finance niche.

Here they are:

This one was made almost a year and half ago. It reveals that finance is the #1 money making niche within the first 6 seconds.

This one was made 2 days ago.

There is a reason YouTube has been on the hunt trying to shutdown the AI slop for the past year.

All that said, when you consider the Asian Guy AI slop, I wouldn’t underestimate the attractiveness of money. We’ve already seen the stampede that can come when capitalizing on a trend.

Remember, the toilet paper fiascos of 2020?

The “innovative” and infinite amount of N95 mask producers popping up everywhere.

The Asian Guy may just be another sign of someone using an emerging technology to capitalize on market trends.

The thing is, we are so isolated in our areas of interest that we tend to believe far fetched ideas rather than the bigger picture.

AI slop is so pervasive…

The trend is toward easy money like the dot com bubble…Only more democratized than the advent of the internet.

The Asian Guy could be the result.

Or am I wrong? Ask my wife. I’ve been wrong before.

2. The AI bubble has yet to pop, here’s where we are according to the Hype Cycle and Tech Adoption Lifecycle.

The inflated amount of expectation for AI is still growing.

OpenAI recently received another $80 Billion funding round from Amazon, but its losses could never be higher.

Compared to the biggest tech companies during the “dot com” bubble, and innovators like Uber, OpenAI is running the largest cumulative losses in history. Yet, we have not peaked on expectations for AI.

As long as there continues to be money from profitable investors like Amazon, expectations will continue to run up. The hype cycle will continue to boom and trough of disillusionment, avoided.

The AI bubble is bigger than anything we’ve seen before. Even though we are beginning to see the effects of AI everywhere.

3. RFK Jr. is doing great job. I’m excited to see the positive changes to American food culture. I hope it moves the beef market too.

Last year, Canada health authorities reasserted themselves and mailed out one a sheet looking like below. The whole thing suggested that I should be eating basically vegetables and grains.

I don’t eat like that.

I’ve saw the effect sugar had on my dad. Diabetes, poor eyesight, and slower cognition. It all adds up. It’s one of the most dangerous substances that we don’t see how much it affects us until it’s too late.

RFK has been doing an excellent job promoting the right food.

Here’s the best round up on the changes I’ve see so far from Steve Watson as Modernity.news.

  1. Greed, the route to evil self-destruction. Just ask Judas about his 20 pieces.
AI, touted as the modern-day messiah. Yet programed by flawed humans. Just ask fictional John Conner how it turned out.
Good Food, the source of health and happiness. Just ask my grandfather who said, “to eat good is to live good” & “if you don’t eat, you’ll die”.

  2. I just watched a video about a volcano erupting in the Philippines and asian a.i. guy was doing his slop in the same manner as the silver vids. Hope he covers the super bowl!
