Food Prepping (Part Three): How to Eat like the Elite (Food for Friday Night in the Bunker)

“I own a couple of motorcycles. I have a bunch of guns and ammo. Food. I figure that, with that, I can hole up in my house for some amount of time.”

~ Steve Huffman, CEO of Reddit

Written by Bryan Lutz, Editor at Dollarcollapse.com:

The Elites may be able to eat like in luxury for years in their underground bunker but…

Since they’re human, it wasn’t a surprise to me when I started to look into what they’re really stocking up on.

They eat the same things!

Yet, in a collapse, those items are mostly scarce.

You don’t have the food you once had, but the elites will…

And they’ll have it in luxury.

You and I, the average joe’s of the world, can eat the same way too, every “Friday Night in the Bunker” for at least a year.

Here’s what they’ll be eating:

It’s called freeze-dried food, which you can easily purchase, store, and re-hydrate without losing flavour.

Some of the packages I saw contained pretty much everything. Delicious, appealing meals like lobster, pepper-corn steak, and full chicken breasts.

Sound good?

The thing is most freeze-dried food comes cut in cubes or smaller pieces. So it’s not like you can have a full steak…

But these guys(not an affiliate link), go through the long, arduous process of sublimation to remove 90% of the moisture from their products, even those I just mentioned.

This is the kind of thing you want to store several small portions of.

You don’t need a steamer to re-hydrate eithe. You can use a steaming basket on top of a boiling pot of water.

Once you rehydrate and cook, you’ll find they have great taste, and they’re an excellent contrast to the basics in your food prepping stockpile.
