Endurance Gold: A Lesson in Ouija Board Drilling and Discerning Extraordinary Popular Delusions

Written by Bryan Lutz, Editor at Dollarcollapse.com:

“Boyd’s been around the industry for a while. He needs no mysticism to create success… but you see, his relationship with the land at Reliance Gold goes back to the late 1980s. When he first heard about the area, the man leading the expedition had set up a cabin, laid out an Ouija Board, and a map.”

President and CEO Robert T. Boyd is playing the role of the conservative iconoclast at their Reliance Gold Project in British Columbia.

You would think it was orthodox practice to want systematic exploration and real numbers, but actually that’s not what happens in the real world. Most of the western world is moving away from a search for truth. You see overweight Indonesian dudes winning beauty pageants, “psychologists” affirming “Minor Attracted Persons”, and more people sharing their wisdom from Oujia boards on tiktok than ever before. That’s where Boyd’s Reliance Gold Project comes in.

Boyd’s been around the industry for a while. He needs no mysticism to create success. He’s had multiple wins throughout his 40-year career as a geologist. He’s been CEO and President for exploration companies finding Potash, and others finding diamonds. Two of them were acquired by major companies BHP and DeBeers. He now holds a spot as a Director of the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada and the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame. So he’s not one for fluff… or fairy tales at their flagship project.

You see, Boyd’s relationship with the land at Reliance Gold goes back to the late 1980s. When he first heard about the area, the man leading the expedition had set up a cabin, laid out an Ouija Board, and a map. Then he’d go to work consulting the “spirits” on where to dig. He’d get some coordinates and then either start digging out a trench line, or haul the diamond drill over to the exact spot… But not after “witching” the location.

“Witching” is used by some spiritual and supernatural types to find water, or other objects. In this case, objects that can run an electric current or generate an electro-magnetic field are suspects. Most people use it to locate underground water sources, but it has also been used for many other purposes like gold. The prospector who found results on the Reliance Gold Project in the 1980s was one of those people who had a deep obsession with guidance from “beyond”.

Once he had the coordinates he’d bring out his tools including pendulums, wands and rods to complete the task. With the tool held between two hands, he’d suspend them over an area concentrating on the gold, letting his intuition guide his movement.

This kind of thing isn’t new. If you read through the book ‘Extraordinary Popular Delusions’ you’ll find more instances of people investing in “pie-in-the-sky” fairy tales.

In ‘Extraordinary Popular Delusions’, Charles Mackay shares the story of Augury – which is the practice of interpreting signs and omens to predict the future. The book recounts how many people placed great faith in augurs who claimed they could divine events and bless or curse individuals depending on their interpretation of chicken guts and bones landing on the ground.

One of the most profound delusions of Augury being Roman general, Gaius Julius Caesar. Prior to battle, he consulted an augur who advised him to cross the Rubicon river – a decision which triggered civil war and eventually brought about the fall of the Roman Empire.

Robert Boyd and his team of explorers at Endurance Gold have zero inclination to place their faith in augurs. In fact, slow, thoughtful and systematic exploration of the Reliance Gold Project has been his modus operandi from the start.

There’s no “shooting arrows at the stars” here. Boyd sourced the project from a private investor he’s known for years. The area is no obscure shot in the dark either. The land is just 10 kilometres north of the former producing Bralorne-Pioneer gold mine complex which ceased production in 1971. And just across the Carpenter Reservoir from the Minto Mine. The Bralorne-Pioneer gold mine still holds the record for most gold pulled out of the ground in British Columbia – 4.2Moz. And it was recovered at a rate of 17.7g/t.

To be fair, those miners were following high-grade, visually appealing veins. They mined mostly with their eyes. It was all “seeing is believing” back then, without the tools geologists use today.

Speaking of visual proofs…

Here are some drill results from the Reliance Gold Project’s Eagle Zone:

  • 3.05 g/t gold over 139.9 m
  • 6.21 g/t gold over 11.8 m
  • 4.0 g/t gold over 9.01 m

These are consistent and better from previous years’ early exploration results. Although, drill results look promising. Boyd admits with cautious optimism that, “the system is complex.” – meaning that there’s still lots to explore as the project moves forward and potential investors should pay attention to the structure of the system.

A recent press release says, “Gold mineralization on the Reliance Project is associated with breccias, silicification, sulphidation of altered host rock, quartz-stibnite veining, quartz-sulphide breccia veining and vein stockwork associated with wide zones of ankerite-sericite-clay alteration.”

As of right now, the strike length of the Eagle Zone deposit is defined at 550m in length. Not overtly amazing, but it holds impressive enough diamond core and near surface RC drilling to keep exploration moving forward.

The company has enough to continue drilling at $3.5 million in cash, and plans to continue drilling his year.

Land claims are also something to pay keen attention to when investing. The Reliance Gold Property is being explored through an Option Agreement in exchange for 100% interest. Endurance must pay $300k(they’ve already paid 100k) and once they define a resource they hand over $3 million, plus 4 million common shares.

With Epizonal comparables to Fosterville, Australia and recent Newfoundland discoveries Endurance Gold is worth paying attention to for its 2023 drill results and management potential. Something tells me they may be uncovering more than spirits could’ve revealed over forty years ago, but the results will show.
