Is it any wonder, public trust in the system is at an all time low?
“The most successful politician is he who says what the people are thinking most often in the loudest voice.”
― President, Theodore Roosevelt

A few days ago, Trump was pronounced guilty for supplying hush money to Stormy Daniels, a pornstar who claims to have given Trump some hanky panky.
Aside from the random, long-haired leftist yelling on the streets of New York, most of Twitter is reacting like Trump’s become the martyr of our age.
Just outside of the courtroom he called the trial…
“…rigged and disgraceful trial.”
He says he was judged by a group of his “peers” in an area where only 5% – 7% of the people would ever vote for him. A request to move the case to another area where he’d get a better jury was denied…
The verdict was another punch down on the institutions that are supposed to uphold our stable civilization.
It’s unfortunate, but…
Here’s what trust in government and the US judicial system looks like.
Pew Research has been tracking public trust in government since 1958:
“Currently, fewer than two-in-ten Americans say they trust the government in Washington to do what is right “just about always” (1%) or “most of the time” (15%). This is among the lowest trust measures in nearly seven decades of polling. Last year, 20% said they trusted the government just about always or most of the time.”
Public trust in the US judicial system is also on the decline. Gallup conducted their annual survey on public trust in the United States’ Supreme Court mid-2023.
Gallup reports:
Confidence in U.S. Supreme Court Sinks to Historic Low
“Twenty-five percent of U.S. adults say they have “a great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in the U.S. Supreme Court, down from 36% a year ago and five percentage points lower than the previous low recorded in 2014…
…Confidence in the Supreme Court is down by double digits among both Democrats (30% to 13%) and independents (40% to 25%) this year, but it is essentially unchanged among Republicans (37% to 39%).”
We’ll have to wait and see how the Trump verdict effects his Presidential run. And even this year’s surveys…
These next several months should be interesting to say the least.
Trump is either one fiery martyr for America come and gone, or a symbol of America’s enduring manifest destiny, and righteous position as a global leader.
For some, even an election won’t be enough to support the American electoral institutions.
That is, if Trump can prove he gets elected at all.
In the last two elections, questioning election results has become a common practice on both sides. Trump says the democrats are rigging elections. Democrats say Republican’s rigged elections.
Here are two videos of both sides throwing shade:
After claiming his latest trial was “rigged,” will his claims also help him legitimize his election results?
Or is he casting doubt on already vulnerable institutions plagued by a lack of public confidence. When a person uses doubt to win an election, will it help legitimize their election? Or even innocence?
That’s what we’re all waiting for.

elections must be held election day using paper ballots
only us citizens may vote
The votes must be counted by hand in small precincts on election night
there must be no absentee voting and no mail in ballots
The counting of votes must be observed scrupulously by non partisan observers
political parties and candidates my not receive donor funds, but will be allowed a modest public allotment
