“We have a lot of good people in this country, and we have to do something about it.”

Over 3000 people from Guatemala marched towards the Southern US border last week.
After Trump won, most of them turned around or went their different ways.
Trump promises mass deportation to combat excessive spending on illegal immigrants, but the consequences of justice may be more difficult to implement than a simple sweep.
The Wall Street Journal reports:
Trump’s Mass Deportation Promise
“Mr. Trump announced late Sunday that Tom Homan, his former acting head of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, has agreed to be his new border czar.
Mr. Homan will be “in charge of our Nation’s Borders,” plus “all Deportation of Illegal Aliens back to their Country of Origin,” Mr. Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Media leaks Monday said Stephen Miller, who advised Mr. Trump on immigration policy in the first term, is likely to be White House deputy chief of staff for policy.
In short order, Mr. Trump will move to reinstate the border policies of his first term, such as Remain in Mexico, which seemed to work.
Under that deal, migrants claiming asylum in the U.S. were sent back to Mexico while their cases were pending, which might take months or more.
The idea was to break the incentives to game the system. Given the backlog of asylum cases, letting migrants into the U.S. while they wait is an enticement to come.
The political rub may be Mr. Trump’s campaign promise to conduct “the largest deportation operation in the history of our country.”
Trump’s mass deportation scheme will be more complicated than most people think.
His administration will need to follow due process.
For example, since he promises “targeted arrests,” will an undocumented cousin, or even grandparent living in the house count?
What about those who won’t say which country they’re from?
Like the ones who have long thrown away their passport, or came with no passport at all.
What about the tens of thousands of children who crossed the border without parents?
A study by Gallup this summer reported that 81% of Americans (which included 64% of Republicans) wanted a pathway for children to enter the US safely.
So, where will they go?
Trump’s incoming border czar’s response is:
“Let the judge decide.”
For how many thousands of people?
The point is: justice has consequences…
And what’s done has been done.
That means Trump will need to pay careful attention to how he is treating many of these illegal “aliens,” and even those Americans who may choose to defend what they see as “asylum seekers.”
As much as it costs to keep non-citizens fed, sheltered, and clothed, it will also cost the American taxpayers time and money to deport them, safely.
If you can do it safely…
What we have here is one interestingly dramatic story to watch as the Trump Honeymoon feeling wears off come January 20, 2025.
